The State of Texas and all major cities in the state share goals to reduce the number of people dying in traffic crashes every year until we get to zero.
TxDOT and cities have substantially changed the approach over the last five years, with meaningful indications that some efforts are changing the troubling trends.
The Texas Vision Zero Summit is a gathering of those committed to ending traffic deaths in Texas.
To begin our conversation and our work together, we have asked leaders of the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Austin to share the transformative work they are doing, and a panel of advocates and leaders to provide inspiring, paradigm shifting ways they believe we can end traffic deaths.
Speakers at Part One will include:
Kathy Sokolic, Chair, Central Texas Families for Safe Streets
Marisabel Ramthun, P.E., Director, Design Division, TxDOT
Alvin New, Texas Transportation Commissioner
Joe Cutrufo, Executive Director, BikeHouston
Marc Williams, Executive Director, TxDOT
Joel Meyer, Acting Transportation Safety Officer, City of Austin
