The Texas Department of Transportation released the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for I-35 in the center of Austin. This includes their proposal for fixing the broken I-35 corridor through the most valuable and most dense activity center in the Austin region, and their logic for the decisions leading to their proposal.
The National Environmental Protection Act requires TxDOT consider this project in a transparent manner, explain their decisions to the public, and not act in arbitrary or capricious ways, but in a way make sense in their decisions.
If you send an email to capexcentral@txdot.gov by midnight, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, they are basically required to read your comments and try to reasonably consider them.
We strongly encourage everyone to take a couple minutes to tell TxDOT about your experiences with I-35, how you wish they would fix this corridor, and what key issues you think they need to consider as they make the final decisions on how to fix it.
